The EZi Hook was purpose-built to solve that problem in one intelligent design. Rather than forcing installers into a single prescribed method, the EZi Hook works seamlessly with nine common shade sail corner fittings, from standard Dee rings to the popular EZi Hold Dee rings. One component. Infinite flexibility.

The Innovation
Most shade sail fittings lock installers into one way of working. The EZi Hook was engineered differently—to adapt to real-world site conditions and give installers genuine choice in how they approach each installation. This versatility was the core design challenge and breakthrough: achieving that adaptability while maintaining absolute structural integrity.
Development took 15 months from concept to production-ready design. The ProRig R&D team modelled the fitting in Fusion 360, optimising load paths and geometry for both strength and ease of use. Rapid prototyping through 3D printing allowed real-world testing and practical refinement based on on-site installation feedback. The biggest technical hurdle was getting the tolerances and angles exactly right—even minor variations in wall thickness significantly affected performance under tension. Every iteration was tested, measured, and refined.
The final design was produced using investment casting via the lost wax process, creating a 316 marine-grade stainless steel component with an electro-polished finish. Controlled load testing and extreme break-point analysis confirmed a breaking load of 5000kg and validated safety margins for demanding applications.

Because the EZi Hook is not sewn onto the shade sail itself, it can be swapped out when needed—eliminating the cost and complexity of replacing an entire fitting assembly. The design itself is simplistic and compact, which makes it structurally stronger than the other components it works with. That strength, paired with the durability of marine-grade stainless, means the EZi Hook performs reliably in residential and commercial shade structures alike, in harsh coastal environments and inland sites.
